SumatraPDF is a small
PDF reader, it can show ePub, mobi, chm and other document formats as
well. There is a 32bit and a 64 bit version for Windows. SumatraPDF
can be used as portable application. There is a version for
PortableApps.
The development
started in 2006 with version 0.1. Since then 43 releases have been
done in 11 years. This is an enormous achievement. The latest release
is 3.1.2 from Aug 2016.
The development is now
done on Github.
The chart below shows
the commits per month for SumatraPDF. These are the commits from
Github, they start in July 2007. Ok, Github did not exist then, but
development was first hosted on Google Code and the developers had
imported the repository from Google Code to Github.
Development
was started by Krzysztof Kowalczyk, blue color. After a few years he
got big support by second developer, Simon Bünzli, green color. He
worked for nearly 7 years on SumatraPDF. Those two developers
did more than 97% of the commits. There were 20 other authors
involved in the development, purple color.
2016 was the year with
the lowest development activity, but in 2017 development goes on with
170 commits sonce the last release.
